Storm is arguably the nearest thing the Marvel universe has to Wonder Woman.* But I wouldn't be as interested in seeing a conversation/superhero meet-cute between those two, as I would between Wonder Woman and Storm's husband, T'Challa, King of Wakanda and the Black Panther.

It would be great! They could talk about being sovereign royalty to highly technologically/magically advanced countries, compare militaristic cultures and diplomacy strategies, perhaps debate benefits and costs of centuries/millennia long isolationist foreign policies as a means of protecting their land from patriarchy/imperialism. Just thinking about their lax postures and guarded smiles as they discussed the various oddities of the (white) man's world makes me happy.

*Yes, I know the Marvel universe wouldn't be the Marvel universe if it had a trinity, work with me here.

I wish telepathy was real, if only because I believe it would fuck with philosophy's shit in ways not yet known to man.

The wank would be glorious to behold. We are all made lesser by its lack.

I just got to civil war: frontline #11. How did I not recognize her smug face before I got to that panel?

On the other hand, I'm almost done and I can move onto reading some other soul-destroying comics' event, like, I dunno, War Games. Never got around to that one!

I have seen Attack the Block…

...I'm reading Civil War.

And not just the here and there that I'd already done, but all of it.

God, I want to punch everyone in their smug faces.

An Observation

Bobby Drake's mother from X2* of the 'Have you tried not being gay a mutant?' fame scarily resembles Michele Bachmann. That scene is going to haunt my nightmares now.

Bonus Observation: It is my sincere belief that Erik Lensherr is Pat Benatar's biggest fan. Eff the classical music that he listens to in his cell. "Invincible" is his tried and true anthem. "Love is a Battlefield" speaks so elquently of his and Charles' relationship that every time he hears it, he sheds one single manly tear. ;__; Really all of her songs speak to him though. They tap into his very ~soul~.

So, I need recs for snooty acafannish things.

First up: Comics, Moses, and Why Gil Scott Heron Thought There Is No Such Thing as a Superman

Are there any texts that do cross cultural comparisons of Jewish Zionism and Black Liberation Theology in the Americas?* Failing that, any particularly good texts on the various forms of Zionism period? How about a book that just does a cross-cultural comparison of the different religious traditions** that arose in the Black diaspora in the Americas? Please? I waaaaaaaaaant it.

Second: LULZ Old Racist Media

I have managed to watch King of Kong Island. And OMG it is SO TERRIBLE. IN SO VERY MANY WAYS. None of those ways by the way are like original or anything. It’s a mediocre movie.

IDK should I like write it up for posterity and because sharing is sadism?

I am going to slooowly make my way through old racist movies and books and such.

With that said, I think there is a poetry anthology that should exist. It would be called THAT’S RACIST: An Anthology of Public Domain Works Whose Themes You Should Never Ever Emulate, I Am So Not Kidding.

There would be a special place in this book for this poem by Vachel Lindsay.

*My google-fu is broke. If the reason for this is that this book doesn’t really exist – there is at least one book’s worth of material to mine on the subject – I will be disappoint.

**Catholicism, Protestantism, Voodoo, Hoodoo, Santeria, Islam, Judaism, Rastafarianism, etc.

The dude who plays Darwin in XMFC is the same dude that plays that dud with the terrible pastede-on dreadlocks in TWILIGHT?!

Dude, DUDE.

I haven't even watched the Twilight movies yet. (though I'm going to have to at some point. There is no way in hell I'm missing out on Renesmee. I REFUSE. THE LULZ DEMAND IT.) Those locs still fucking haunt me.

It's like that time my mother dared (DARED, I TELL YOU) to get a dreadlock weave and would do things like walk next me.* Except in this case, the person's not my mother but a man featured in a movie that's been seen by what is probably millions of people.

The things you learn on IMDB.

*The instance of "Is that your real hair?" directed at me while in proximity to her shot up by at least 500%. This is a grudge I am never letting go of.

So, I spent a few hours trying to figure out Lightworks Beta? And then stopped after my mood went from hopeful to bad to murderous? And then I tried to put a clip on the timeline in Windows Moviemaker and it like decided that that was too much for it to handle? Or something?

What I'm saying is that that movie marathon where I watch classic racist films about killer gorillas*[1, 2, 3] that I found in the discount bin at fye for lulz and drinking games may need to be moved up.

*No really, the DVD cover says

3 CLASSIC MOVIES
KILLER
GORILLA
